The BFI‘s London Film Festival is a refreshingly different kind of festival. It is far reaching, diverse and reflects London’s own belief that everyone is welcome. This spirit led us to a new strategy and a new creative idea – Modern Heritage.

Our visual identity was inspired by a forgotten asset - the original Norman Engleback logo that has sat quietly on the side of BFI’s listed Southbank building since 1954.

It was time to bring it to the fore of the Festival's branding.

By modernising this iconic marque, the design not only pays homage to long-time festival-goers but also resonates with new audiences. This comprehensive project included a typographic review of the brand. The design of the LFF logo emphasizes the word ‘Film,’ giving it more prominence and placing it at the core of the brand's identity.
